Why it has to be Merino Wool

Read Time:1 Minute, 19 Second

With the  Summer months slowly receding away,  and even some of the summer ones not being that great,  it’s time to start thinking about the wardrobe again for the autumn.  One of the staples of any Autumn wardrobe has to be owning a womens merino wool sweater like that available from https://www.shamrockgift.com/aran-sweaters/womens-aran-sweaters/womens-merino-wool-irish-sweater. Surely though, what’s the difference between owning a Merino over a regular woollen jumper?  Merino is by far one of the most spectacular wools that can provide so much more than just a nice fashionable look.

First of all, Merino contains a high degree of keratin.  Keratin is in all of us in our hair and it’s naturally present in the sheeps as well.  What keratin is excellent at doing is absorbing the body’s moisture,  in other words sweat.  However, the fantastic thing about keratin is that it is also able to absorb that sweat and naturally deodorise it.  This means that it won’t smell.  Keratin also works in the other way in that it repels water to some degree.  It naturally does this as opposed to modern petrochemical tops which are designed to completely repel water.

Finally, Merino wool is a lot easier to store as it is not as coarse as some others.  It’s particularly lightweight but does provide decent warmth as well on a  chilly day.  it remains one of the best fibres for if you fancy going on one of those nice autumn walks through the leaves of a forest.
