Book Early

The first thing people tell you to do when you’re planning a wedding is to book years in advance. But what if your perfect venue is already booked up for the next five years and you don’t want to wait that long? Time to choose something that has just as much potential and half the waitlist. When you’re planning a wedding, it’s very important not to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Even if you have a place that you love but it’s over-budget and over-booked, it’s best to move on and find a place that’s going to suit your immediate needs better. It might seem like you’re only going to get what you want if you find a way to get this specific venue that all the Instagram socialites love, but think about the big picture: You’re getting married to someone you love. You don’t need to book the most hyped spot in the country in order to make your wedding beautiful or memorable. If you can’t get your hands on your first choice, settle for your second and focus on making it truly come to life through your own personal touches.

Don’t Settle for Second Best

That said, don’t just settle for any old place. If you’re working within a tight budget, there are plenty of ways to get the venue you want without breaking the bank. You also don’t have to choose a place that you’re not 100% in love with even if it’s a responsible option within your budget. If you can’t find a place that you like and can afford, think bigger. If there’s a family spot that’s important to you, a local park, farm, or other destination that means something to you, try and look into what it might cost to set up there. Whether you get married on the beach or at city hall, you can find a way to make the ceremony beautiful and tasteful without having to spend all your honeymoon cash on the venue.

Find the Right Location

Think about where you want to be when you get married. Do you want to be surrounded by family in a place that’s easy for the older members of the family to travel to? Do you want a destination wedding in a far-off tropical paradise? Are you content to have a small ceremony in a place that’s near and dear to your community? It’s up to you. Whatever you choose, don’t forget to do a thorough weather check and do your research when it comes to transportation. Having a destination getaway is nice, but not if you book a tropical suite during hurricane season. Before you settle on a place, make sure you’re prepared for anything and everything. Keep reading mother of the bride hairstyles.

Choose History

Anyone can get married in a huge, fancy event hall. When it comes to your relationship, try to think outside of the box. What’s a place that’s been important in your relationship? Did you and your hubby bond over a love of the slopes? Think about having your wedding on a snowy mountaintop at a ski resort. Are you both book lovers? Think about booking a library or getting your pictures taken on the steps of a particularly majestic one. Don’t just consider the venue: Consider what it says about the history of your relationship, not to mention history itself. If you have a family home that’s old and full of memories, why not hold your wedding there? Don’t forget that there are a ton of options open to you when it comes to finding the right place to get hitched.
