Do not forget to put enough medical supplies in your hand luggage to solve any small health problem during the duration of your trip.

To avoid unwanted vacation mishaps, it’s important to put together a complete kit that includes basic medications to treat common ailments, first aid supplies, and any special medical supplies you may need.

Basic components of the travel kit

What can not be missing in a good summer kit is:

  • Antiseptic (chlorhexidine, povidone, etc.) and gauze and plasters to heal small cuts and wounds.
  • Analgesics to treat minor pain:
    • ibuprofen (analgesic and anti-inflammatory),
    • paracetamol (analgesic and antipyretic and the only one suitable for pregnant women).
  • Thermometer.
  • Mosquito repellent and topical antihistamine for bites and irritations.

If you travel to countries with different eating habits

  • Anti-diarrhea and oral serum for rehydration.
  • Anti-nausea: tablets, gums, or suppositories, for both adults and children.
  • Stomach protectors.

If you need a specific medication

  • Insulin.
  • Inhale.
  • Antihistamines, corticosteroids, and/or adrenaline syringe if you suffer from allergies.
  • Others.

Do not forget to take with you the justification of your doctor to transport it (especially in the case of syringes) and the generic name, since the commercial name of the brand you use may not exist in other countries. Or search health-related websites like drugsgeek.com.

Don’t forget about …

  • A suitable sun protection cream for your skin type, lip balm, and products for after sun exposure ( after sun ).
  • Approved sunglasses.
  • Earplugs.

The medicine cabinet should be kept in a cool and dry place and should not be transported in the trunk, as high temperatures can damage the medicines.
